Islander named treasurer
Bruce W. McIntyre was recently named treasurer of the Rhode Island Bar Association. His term began July 1, and will run until June 30, 2013. McIntyre, a Jamestown resident, has been legal counsel to the Rhode Island Department of Health’s board of medical licensu re and discipline since 1991.
His legal expertise is in the areas of medical regulation of physicians, physician assistants, chiropractic physicians, and acupuncture and oriental medicine. He is a former director of the Federation of State Medical Boards. He also advises the Rhode Island director of health on legal and legislative issues. He has served as an administrative hearing officer for the boards of pharmacy, nursing and dentistry.
Founded in 1898, the Rhode Island Bar Association is a nonprofit organization counting all those licensed to practice law in Rhode Island as its members. Currently the membership totals over 6,000 individuals.
