Thanks to volunteers for successful summer
The hall is empty, the equipment has been stored, and craft and art works have been sold and resettled. Left are the proud and weary volunteers of the Conanicut Island Art Association, who staffed a marathon week at the recreation center, beginning with our summer craft show on July 14, and on into our 38th annual members exhibit, which closed on July 22.
Our thanks go to all of our loyal helpers, too many to count, and a number of new friends, who cheerfully allowed themselves to be drafted for a task or two. We are in all ways honored by our very talented artist members, who abundantly endow Jamestown by sharing their work. And our special thanks go to all of the happy people who turned out to join in our activities with enthusiasm.
We now look forward to September, when we will sponsor an invitational exhibit for Bridges Inc., at Town Hall, followed in November by a painting exhibit titled “By the Brush.” In December, we will once again produce our busy and very popular holiday craft fair, this year featuring a little picture show. These activities fund our student scholarship grants, which are the largest awarded in Jamestown, and also many other donations given back to the community for which we are so grateful.
New members and volunteers are most welcome. Please call or pick up a membership application from the rack at the Jamestown library. Thank you.
