Newport Storm will hold luau at Ft. Adams

The 14th annual luau to benefit the Fort Adams Trust will take place on Saturday, Aug. 18, at Fort Adams State Park in Newport. The biggest event of its kind in the region, the luau is sponsored by Coastal Extreme Brewing Company and includes live entertainment, Polynesian fare and Newport Storm beer.

The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and wraps up at 10 p.m. Last year, a record 2,000 people attended the luau, which raised more than $25,000. Local bands this year include Twin Fish, Jason Colonies Band and Roots Reaction. There will also be courts for volleyball and bocce, hula dancers and a roaster pig. Additionally, there will be guided tours of historic Fort Adams.

Tickets are $10 in advance at NewportStorm.com, at the brewery or at Fort Adams, and $15 at the door. The event is 21+ with a valid ID.
