Produce your own animated film tonight
Teenagers are invited to the Jamestown Philomenian Library for an animation workshop on Thursday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. The program will count toward completion of the young-adult passport for a chance to win a Kindle Touch, iPod nano or Sony Reader.
Different types of animation will be discussed at the workshop, but the focus will be on a technique called pixilation, which uses live people as puppets for stop-motion animation. Participants will be given locations or characters, and will brainstorm stories to incorporate them. They will work in small groups to create storyboards and produce their own stop-motion pixilation film, which can later be viewed on the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art’s website.
