Clearing of Hull Cove path causes ‘sadness’

When I returned to Hull Cove recently, I was surprised to see mountain bikers riding from the trail. I was then immediately aware that something awful had happened.

I do not wish to highlight the myriad of emotions ranging from outrage to a feeling of being violated, but rather the extreme grief and sadness I am experiencing having someone desecrate the place I hold very sacred and dear to my heart.

Since I was a child, this trail was once home to birds of every kind, and numerous wetland species. It also offered the visitor a great sense of solace on the island, which is increasingly being used by the general public.

It is with a very heavy heart that I bear witness to the changes that have happened and are rapidly occurring on the wetland trail, now opened up and drying from the sun exposure. Should there be an effort to remediate this environmental and recreational loss, I would be happy to help in any way I can.
