First day of rec soccer is ‘great’ day of the year
One of my favorite days of the year is the first day of recreational soccer in Jamestown. The fields at Eldred Avenue are freshly cut and lined, and the goal netting is new and taut. There are usually a few 5-year-old children who get to the fields early because they have been excited to start their first soccer season. The entire complex comes alive with children in brightly colored shirts, laughing and lining up for doughnuts. It is a great feeling of community and the exuberance of youth.
The soccer program is geared to promote the fun of soccer throughout all ages. Volunteers in the program are now ordering uniforms, coordinating registration, and getting equipment ready for coaches. We are in constant need of volunteers to help with all elements of the program including field preparation, uniform coordination, concessions and coaching. Please visit our website (JamestownSoc cer.net) for player registration, and let us know if you are able to help with the league.
Sponsors are also needed as we continue to grow the program and our facilities. Sponsors can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I hope everyone will register soon and help us continue the tradition. I hope to see you all out on the fields.
