Register now for free sign-language classes
A free 10-week sign-language class taught by Gemma Guinguing will be held on Thursdays from Sept. 6 to Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Jamestown Philomenian Library.
Guinguing, who was named Miss Deaf Rhode Island in 2005, was born in the Philippines. She is a strong advocate for the hearing impaired and voluntarily assists community organizations in how to assist and communicate with deaf people.
The program is free and open to the public. Class size is limited and participants must be at least 14 years old. Register by calling the library at 423-7280.
