Donations will help local animal shelter

On Aug. 3, Friends of the North Kingstown Animal Shelter held a fundraiser at Pelly’s 19th Hole at the North Kingstown Golf Course. The fundraiser included an artistic cheese, fruit, veggie and cracker table, and also dinner and dessert. There was music and dancing thanks to DJ Norday.

We had a number of raffles and a silent auction on many items. Animal shelter volunteers from North Kingstown and Jamestown were there to sell tickets and take pictures of all attendees. It was an exciting night with excellent food prepared by the chefs at Pelly’s. Staff helped to make the night such an enjoyable one. Of course, the guests made the night. I always say, “If you’re an animal lover, you’re a wonderful, friendly person.”

We would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for their support and donations: Wickford’s Ruff Life Dog Day Care, Allie’s Tack, North Kingstown Animal Hospital, Green Ink, Shaggy Chic, Alex & Ani, Mr. and Mrs. Benson, Flori’s Treasures, Therapy Solutions, Woodland Greens Golf Club, Jamestown Golf Course, Citizens Bank, and numerous others.

Friends of the North Kingstown Animal Shelter, which is a nonprofi t organization, helps resident animals from North Kingstown and Jamestown. Our mission is to provide a healthy, safe and caring environment for each animal in our keeping. Our goal is ultimately to place them in loving forever homes.

The grand total of donations raised at this event was a very welcoming $3,000. We are a nokill shelter and 100 percent of the funds raised are used for the animals. We have no paid employees.

As always, we thank you, and our furry friends thank you as well for all your support. Love is adoptable.
