Fools’ Rule Regatta caps off ‘best vacation’
On behalf of me, my wife and three young daughters, thanks for the best vacation ever in Jamestown last week. The beaches were perfect, the town was lovely, and the folks were terrific. Our perfect week was capped off by the Fools’ Rules Regatta, in which my 8-year-old daughter Adele competed in the Class-1 race with an air mattress, flagpole and two hockey sticks, and was happy to go home with a red ribbon.
Thanks to Chris Powell and his wife, Candy – and all the other folks who helped – for putting on a wonderful event for families. Thanks also to my old friend Dan, who put us up and taught us a thing or two about sailing.
Rhode Island and Narragansett Bay remain among the country’s best-kept secrets.
