Registration open for November’s bridge run
On Nov. 11, runners will get the rare opportunity to run across the Newport Pell Bridge right at the break of dawn during the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority’s Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run.
Thousands of athletes and walking enthusiasts are expected to turn out for the unparalleled scenic panoramas visible from the bridge deck. The four-mile run will begin at 6:30 a.m. in Jamestown, next to RITBA headquarters. At the gun, runners will head over the Newport Bridge and wind through downtown Newport to the finish line at the Gateway Center on America’s Cup Avenue.
“The bridge is a gorgeous structure, and the opportunity to participate in a crossing like this is rare, so I encourage anyone interested to sign up and take advantage of this,” said David Darlington, chairman of RITBA. “All proceeds from the race will go to Rhode Island nonprofi t organizations to show our support for their invaluable contributions to the community.”
The entry fee is $35 per person by Aug 31, and $45 afterwards. To register, visit PellBridgeRun.com.
