Stanley Ryng, 85, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Jamestown, passed away Aug. 12, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Emilia (Gronowski) Ryng for 63 years. Born in Montbard, France, he was the son of the late Edmund and Victoria (Maciaszek)
He enjoyed gardening, bee keeping, chess and languages – but his passion was always fishing. Stan came to the United States after World War II with his family. He settled in North Attleboro, Mass., but found Jamestown and came here to fish at every opportunity, eventually moving here in 1972.
He was a metallurgist at Texas Instruments for more than 30 years. He was the brother of Josephine Pardo, Rose Sujdak and Irene DesVergnes, and the late Vicki Nabial, Jeannine Sofianczuk, Edward Ryng and Marie Berg.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Stan, Don and Ron Ryng of Jamestown; four daughters, Sylviane Whitehurst and Rose Skitt of Port Charlotte, Fla., Suzanne Silva of Seekonk, Mass., and Michelle Smith of Jamestown; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The memorial service was private.
