Chorus seeking singers for upcoming season

The Jamestown Community Chorus is seeking additional singers in all voice ranges for its upcoming season. Rehearsals start Monday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Central Baptist Church.

The chorus will rehearse “A Ceremony of Carols” by Benjamin Britten, as well as selections from the Oxford “100 Carols for Choir.” The concert will take place in early December. A guest harpist will be featured.

Auditions are not required. The chorus is open to singers of all ages. Current members live in Jamestown, Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth, North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Narragansett and Warwick. Although the group rehearses in Central Baptist Church, it is a separate entity with no religious affiliation.

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., with a refreshment break. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the first rehearsal to leave time for registration and music distribution.

There is a membership fee, but some scholarship help is available. For more information, call 423-1574.
