Piano association will open 2012-13 season
The Jamestown Community Piano Association opens it 2012-13 season with an hour-long recital by Moscow-born pianist Vassily Primakov on Sunday, Sept. 16, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. Primakov will play the works of Chopin, and a reception in the church hall will follow the performance.
Primakov came to New York at 17 to pursue studies at the Juilliard School with noted pianist Jerome Lowenthal. In 2002, he won both the silver medal and the audience prize in the Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition, and first prize in the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. In 2007, he was named the Classical Recording Foundation’s young artist of the year.
