Sailboats on sale for Jamestown Day race

Jamestown Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Fort Getty pavilion. The event will include music, games and a bonfire. The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 22.

Jamestown Day is an alcoholand drug-free fundraising event sponsored by the Friends of Jamestown Youth. Money raised will be used for teen-targeted programs that encourage healthy communication and lifestyle choices. Activities will include volleyball, a dunk tank, a bouncy house, potatosack race, the cakewalk and face painting.

Mini-sailboats constructed by teens will compete in the Conanicut Cup Race. Numbered sailboats can be bought in advance at the recreation center for $5 each. Cash prizes will be given to those who have the number of the winning sailboats.

Entertainment will be provided by the Jamestown Community band and chorus. Food and beverages will be sold under the pavilion. Admission is $5, free for children under 6. For more information, call Petit (423-7496) or Molly Conlon (423-7261).
