Jamestown is ‘lucky’ to have harbormaster

I was happy to read about our Harbormaster Sam Paterson rescuing a jumper from the Jamestown Bridge. I had the pleasure of working with Sam on the Harbor Commission for many years, and I grew to appreciate his professionalism and dedication to his job as harbormaster. His position often puts him in the difficult situation of being in the middle of sometimes opposing interests. The town and Harbor Commission on one side, and the boating community on the other. I’ve seen him under fire, and as this recent episode shows, he’s a stand-up guy and we are lucky to have him.
