Tickets on sale next week for JCT musical
The Jamestown Community Theatre will present its latest musical production, “Once Upon a Mattress,” on two consecutive weekends in November: Nov. 9-11 and Nov. 16-18. Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7 p.m., and Sunday performances will begin at 4 p.m. All shows will be held at the recreation center.
“Once Upon a Mattress” is a musical comedy with music by Mary Rodgers and lyrics by Marshall Barer. It opened off-Broadway in May 1959, and then moved to Broadway. The play was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea.”
Julie Beth Andrews will direct the musical, assisted by Nadine Mendelsohn. Eliza Andrews will help with choreography, and Walter Sage is the musical director. Stage managers are Mady Brown and Nellie Tamboe. Co-producers include Kellie Toland and Lisa Rafferty. Taty Chapin and Dori Hirsch will be in charge of costumes, while Alejandra Billington and Steve Farrelly will lead the design and construction of the set.
Tickets can be purchased beginning Friday, Oct. 12, at Baker’s Pharmacy, Cathryn Jamieson Salon, the Conanicut Marine Ship’s Store & Chandlery, and the Secret Garden. Advance ticket prices are $13 for general admission, $8 for seniors and children. Prices will increase to $11 and $16, respectively, if purchased at the door. For more information, call 423-2121.
