DEM officials will talk about conservation
A forum will be held with Lisa Primiano, deputy chief of the State Land Conservation and Acquisition Program at the Department of Environmental Management, on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Jamestown Philomenian Library. She will provide an overview of current conservation programs, and will also present a historical overview of the open space bond programs since 1985. Also speaking will be Ken Ayars, chief of the DEM’s Division of Agriculture. He will review the history of farmland-protection efforts and the value of it as it relates to the Rhode Island landscape, the food system, and the local economy and ecosystem. For more information, call Kira Stillwell at the Rhode Island Natural History Survey at 874-5800.
