Register today to run across Newport Bridge

On Sunday, Nov. 11, participants will have the rare opportunity to walk or run across the Newport Pell Bridge. The four-mile run will begin at the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority headquarters at 7:30 a.m. From there, runners will take off on a short loop onto Conanicus Avenue, head onto Route 138 and under the new open-road-tolling archway, before crossing over the bridge.

It’s only two miles from end to end of the bridge, and a 4.8 percent grade at its highest point. By mile three, participants will have crossed the East Passage of Narragansett Bay and then enter downtown Newport via Farewell Street and America’s Cup Avenue. After crossing the finish line at the transportation and visitors center, participants can celebrate at Cardines Field.

To register, visit PellBridgeRun. com. Online registration closes Nov. 7. The fee is $55.
