Expect traffic delays, detours Sunday morning
On Sunday, Nov. 11, earlymorning motorists in the Jamestown and Newport area should be prepared for slight delays and traffi c detours. The starting time for the Pell Bridge Run is 7:30 a.m., and police will begin blocking off some roads as early as 4:30 a.m. No pedestrians other than registered athletes will be allowed on any part of the bridge.
In Jamestown, from 4:30 to 7:30 a.m., East Shore Road will be closed between the intersection of Conanicus Avenue and the Route 138 ramps. From 6 to 7 a.m., Conanicus Avenue will be closed at the intersection of East Shore Road through the on ramp to Newport Bridge. The downtown Newport exit will be closed to traffic until 8 a.m. Traffic on the Newport Bridge will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between 6 and 8 a.m. In Newport, from 6 to 8 a.m. Farewell Avenue will be closed through America’s Cup Avenue, and Van Zandt Street at the corner of Farewell will also be closed to traffic. Expect delays using Farewell northbound until 8:30 a.m.
