Thanks for help with Thanksgiving baskets
The members of the St. Mark Outreach Committee would like to thank everyone who donated to the Thanksgiving turkey baskets and the food pantry.
The distribution of turkey basket this year was successful thanks to many groups and organizations. The James- town Rotary supplied baskets filled with everything for a wonderful meal. Maggie Grenier and Sue Brayman, along with the Salvation Army, students in Ms. Nolls’ class at Our Lady of Mercy in East Greenwich, the Cub Scouts under the leadership of Will Tuttle, the Jamestown school-bus drivers, and the Casey family, also donated baskets.
The kindergarten children at Melrose Avenue School saved their pennies and along with their teachers and aides walked to Mc- Quade’s Market where they purchased items to add to the turkey baskets and put on the shelves in the food pantry.
Thank you to Kathy Rushton who headed up a program where she and her fellow knitters donated beautiful handmade items that were added to the Thanksgiving baskets.
Thank you also to those who helped stock the food pantry. The Boy Scouts collected food items left out by the generous Jamestowners. Not only did the Scouts collect the items, they sorted and checked dates that made our job easier.
Thank you to Bill Brayman, who collects donations left at the door at McQuade’s Market and delivers them to the food pantry two or three times a week.
A special thank you to Father O’Neill whose guidance and support keep us in the spirit of giving. Thank you and God bless you all.
