John J. Dowling
John J. Dowling, 78, passed away peacefully Nov. 28, 2012. A lifelong resident of Jamestown, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Murray) Dowling.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. John served on the Jamestown Police Department and later worked as a contractor before retiring.
He was a communicant of St. Mark Church.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Dowling and wife Blake; a daughter, Vnes E. Dowling; an aunt, Blanche Murray; and a grandson, Nicholas Dowling.
He was the brother of the late Mary Harris, Eleanor Collins, Margaret Belloni and Charles Dowling.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Mark Church or the Jamestown Fire Department will be appreciated.
