Holiday baskets were huge success in 2012
I must express my profound thanks for the overwhelming response to the article in the Press about making items for the people in Jamestown who need to keep warm this winter. My program has been named Friends of Kathy.
Those who helped me reach 280 items this year include Laurel Falces, Barbara-Ann McIntosh, Pat Watrous, Marion Sheehan, Trish O’Brien, Ellen Greene, Pat McArdle from Nahant, Mass., Joanne Hulme, Jan Burns, Ann Devereux, Polly Biddle, Jodie Woodside and the Jamestown Police Department. All are to be thanked for participating this year. As many of you will recognize, some of these donors are summer residents who read the Press year round and mailed me their contributions.
In addition, the Seaside Family Cruise has made a monetary contribution for next year’s yarn. After the middle of January, you may call me at 423-0926 and I will give you the yarn to start knitting or crocheting for the 2013 Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.
My thanks to the organizers of the Seaside Family Cruise for helping this program continue. My thanks also to Kathy Brownell for distributing the hats, scarves, mittens, gloves and headbands to those who need them. Merry Christmas to everyone in Jamestown and may their generous spirit continue.
