Alternative farming will be forum topic
Hydroponic food production will be the focus of a community forum on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church. David Phaneuf of Central Fall’s Acopia Harvest International will be the guest speaker. Hydroponic produce is grown in vertical layers without soil and is irrigated with recycled water. It uses less water than is required in conventional farm methods. Phaneuf will talk about how the process reduces the costs associated with transportation, distribution and spoilage, and how growing crops indoors allows for the year-round production of fresh food.
