JHS receives grant to improve windmill

The Jamestown Historical Society was awarded $11,650 by the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities to improve interior signage in the town’s historic windmill, built in 1787. Signage will improve visitor experiences, docent training and be integrated into a middle-school science program to create connections between the humanities and sciences. The grant was one of 22 major endowments awarded by the council in 2013, totaling $188,088.
