Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James and Winifred (Morley) Lawless.
Mr. Lawless was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the Korean War.
He had a varied career including engineering, carpentry, commercial fishing, ship’s captain, artist, adventurer and avid traveler. He authored the book “Potluck.”
He leaves six children, Kathleen Lawless of Boulder, Colo., John Lawless Jr. of Jamestown, Mary Lawrence of Orange, Calif., Sheila Lawless-Burke of Warren, Patrick Lawless of Wakefield, and Eamon Lawless of Warren; a brother, James Lawless of Wakefield; a sister, Mary Lawless of Warwick; and eight adored grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
