Emotion stands in way of same-sex marriage
This letter is to address a writer’s concern over the economic consequences of gay marriage (Letters, Jan. 31, “Not everyone thinks it’s time for gay marriage”). Do you have any statistics? Putting aside the emotional reasons, marriage would give same-sex couples legal rights to share expenses.
Did you know that 70 percent of unwanted foster children are adopted by gay couples? I have statistics. What politics and being rich has to do with this issue would require another letter from that concerned citizen.
I’ll close with a touching line from the movie “Sling Blade”: “I don’t reckon you have to go with women to be a good daddy to a boy.”
