From Feb. 5 to Feb. 11, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 421 calls for service. Of those calls, officers performed 165 security checks of homes and businesses.

The police also responded to 20 medical or fire calls, five animal complaints, 11 parking complaints, and 25 alarms. Also, there were 15 traffic stops, resulting in one arrest and four traffic citations. Three of the tickets were issued by officers while they were assigned to a state enforcement program.

Marijuana possession

Charles A. Hysko, 20, of Oakdale Avenue, Pawtucket, was charged Feb. 6 with first-offense possession of marijuana. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on Route 138 west on the North Kingstown side. He was transported to the police station where he was processed and released. A court date was scheduled for Feb. 15 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
