Thanks to volunteers who helped at shelter
As shelter manager, I would like to say how much I appreciate those people who helped us set up and run the Red Cross shelter at the Melrose Avenue School during the blizzard earlier this month. More than 100 people used the shelter during that time, either to get warm, charge their cellphone or computer, or to have a delicious dinner, breakfast or lunch, cooked by our two Jennifers. Twenty-five people stayed overnight on Feb. 9.
None of this would have been possible without the help of the following people who so kindly and gracefully donated their time and talents to assist us. They are Anne Tighe, Fred Pease, Elisabeth Chase, Emily Titon, Jennifer Dale, Mariah Dale, Matthew Dale, Jennifer Godwin, Travis Godwin, Logan, Colby, Amelia, Justin, Trace Godwin, Melody Drnach, Mary Meagher, Willy Maclean, Nicole Fortenberry, Victoria Shaw, Tyler Gibson, Kristine Trocki, Eugene Mihaly, Lew Kitts and his staff, Fire Chief Jim Bryer and his staff, members of the EMS, and to Police Chief Ed Mello and the members of the Police Department for providing transportation.
