Frank J. O’Connor
Frank J. O’Connor, 83, died peacefully on Feb. 16, 2013, at the Grand Islander Center in Middletown with his sister by his side. Frank was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Feb. 28, 1929, the eldest child of Frank R. and Eleanor (Kennington) O’Connor. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Julia P. O’Connor.
Frank was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. Frank and Julia moved to Burlington, Vt., in 1971 where he was sales manager for Burroughs Corporation. He was a member of St. Mark’s Parish and served as parish coordinator for Meals on Wheels with his wife for more than 17 years. Frank was a longstanding member of the Lake Champlain Yacht Club in Shelburne, Vt.
He is survived by two sisters, Eleanor Chase of Jamestown and Patricia Langdon and husband J. David of Lady Lake, Fla.; his brother, Charles and wife Laura of Bergenfield, N.J.; three sisters-inlaw, Mary O’Connor of Millington, N.J., Maureen O’Connor of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Maureen Leahy and husband Jack of Fishkill, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Eugene Murnane and wife Louise of Jackson, N.J.; and many nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11, at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church in Burlington. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Lake Champlain Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program, P.O. Box 441, Shelburne, VT 05482, or the charity of your choice.
