Scholarships offered by community chorus

Applications are now being accepted by the Jamestown Community Chorus for its annual music award. This year there will be two $500 grants awarded, one each for a student and adult. Applicants do not need to live in Jamestown, but must be active in the island’s music community. To be considered, applicants can play a solo instrument or be the member of a band, church choir, musical theater or community chorus. Money from the award can be used for instructional books, lessons, workshops, undergraduate education, or any other expenses related to music development. Applications are available at the library. Deadline is April 12. The grants will be presented at the community chorus’ spring concert in May. Call Agnes Filkins at 423-1464 for more information.
