From March 11 to March 18, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 375 calls for service. Of those calls for service, officers performed 167 security checks of vacant homes and businesses.
The police also responded to 18 emergency calls, six animal complaints, three parking complaints and four alarms. There were 54 traffic stops, resulting in two arrests and 15 traffic citations. Ten of the tickets were issued by officers while assigned to a state enforcement program.

Alexander J. Allen, 29, of Post Road, Warwick, was charged March 16 with first-offense DUI. According to police, the defendant’s blood-alcohol content was greater than .14. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on Route 138 westbound. Allen was transported to the police station where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. He was released after posting bail. A court date was scheduled for March 22 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
Marcos A. West, 40, of Granite Street, Leominster, was charged March 15 with driving with a suspended license. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on Route 138 eastbound. The defendant was transported to the police station where he was processed and released with a summons. A court date was scheduled for March 22 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
Jonathan J. Pickett, 31, of Schooner Avenue, Jamestown, was charged March 17 with assault, refusal to relinquish a telephone, vandalism, and disorderly conduct. All charges were domestic offenses. The arrest was the result of an investigation at the defendant’s home. Pickett was transported to the police station where he was processed and held for arraignment on March 19 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
