The World Store in Wickford reopens

Jim Grogan, a manager at Chopmist Charlie’s, says the Wickford store he owns with his wife Dale is open and ready for business. The World Store, located on 16 West Main St., was damaged during the February blizzard that dropped more than 2 feet of snow onto Rhode Island. Half of the store’s ceiling collapsed and a pipe burst on the second floor. Grogan says the entire store needed to be redone, and after lots of work, he says it is open and better than before.

The store is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The World Store is a nature- and nautical-inspired shop offering items such as stuffed animals, bird feeders, bat houses, field guides, chimes and ship models. The store was opened more than two decades ago by the Grogans. The couple has been married for 30 years.
