Police Log

From March 19 to March 25, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 402 calls for service. Of those calls, officers performed 207 security checks of vacant homes and businesses.

The police also responded to 11 emergency calls, five animal complaints, four parking complaints and four alarms. There were 76 traffic stops, resulting in three arrests and 18 citations. Seventeen of the tickets were issued for seatbelt violations during a state-funded enforcement campaign.

License

• Thomas Williams, 19, of Hillside Street, Saunderstown, was charged March 18 for driving with a suspended license. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on Route 138 eastbound. The defendant was taken to the police station where he was processed and released. A court date was set for March 29 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• William J. Rossi, 67, of Purgatory Road, Exeter, was charged March 20 with driving with an expired license. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on Narragansett Avenue. The defendant was given a citation and released. A court date was set for April 5 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Stasia C. Holloway Welker, 27, of Warner Street, Newport, was charged March 23 with driving with a suspended license. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on Route 138 eastbound. The defendant was taken to the police station where she was processed and released. A court date was scheduled for March 29 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
