Police Log

From March 26 to April 1, the Jamestown Police Department responded to 378 calls for service. Of those calls, officers performed 206 security checks of vacant homes and businesses.

The police also responded to 16 emergency calls, six animal complaints resulting in two violations, four parking complaints and four alarms. There were 45 traffic stops, resulting in three arrests and 12 traffic citations – nine of the tickets were issued by officers who were assigned to a state enforcement program.

Warrant

Cesar Alonzo-Ramos, 25, of Wadsworth Street, Providence, was charged on a Providence arrest warrant for domestic assault. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on North Road. The defendant was transported to the police station where he was processed. He was released to the custody of Providence police.

Multiple charges

• William J. Murphy, 19, of Old North Road, South Kingstown, was charged March 29 with possession of marijuana and a weapon. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on Route 138 eastbound. The prohibited weapon was a knife with a blade greater than 3 inches in length. The defendant was transported to the police station where he was processed and released with a summons. A court date was scheduled for April 5 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Richard S. Spinney, 25, of Walcott Avenue, Jamestown, was charged March 30 with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on North Road. The defendant was transported to the police station where he was processed and released with a summons. A court date was scheduled for April 12 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
