CIAA offers scholarship to graduating senior

The Conanicut Island Art Association is offering a $5,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior. To be eligible, students must be a resident of Newport County and graduating from a Rhode Island high school.

Candidates must submit photographs – on CD or DVD – of a minimum of six art works created during high school. Threedimensional work should be photographed from different angles. Information on medium, size and weight must be provided for each work. CIAA reserves the right to request the presentation of originals.

Also required is a statement in 300 words or less describing the experience of creating the work and any plans for future involvement in art.

Deadline is May 17. Applications can be found at the library or on the CIAA’s website. Discs and statements should be mailed to CIAA, Wendy Crooks, 7 Hull St. Jamestown, RI 08235. Call Crooks at 423-0993 to learn more.
