Body found in West Passage was jumper

A woman whose body washed ashore Sunday morning a mile south of the Jamestown Bridge has been identified as 34-year-old Barbora Persinova of West Roxbury, Mass. According to police, an autopsy found that Persinova died from injuries consistent with jumping from the Jamestown Bridge.

A Jamestown resident spotted the body at about 8:10 a.m. Sunday while walking along the island’s western shoreline by Watson Farm. Police Chief Ed Mello said the body was spotted in shallow water about 4 feet from the shore. After police removed the body from the water, it was transported to the Rhode Island medical examiner for an autopsy.

Mello said there was no evidence of foul play.
