Lawn students participate in history competition

Ten students represented Lawn Avenue School at the Natural History Day state competition Saturday at Providence College. Bailey Thran, Meghann Maguire, Emma Lennon, Jacob Maguire, Hope Mitchell, Catherine Brennan, Camryn Wallace, Annabelle O’Neill, Madison Maguire and Erica Smith were chosen by a panel of three who judged the local competition at the middle school on March 7.

Erica placed second in the historical paper category for her report on space shuttles. She will represent the state at the national contest held in June at the University of Maryland. Bailey and Meghann received an award for their documentary on Harriet Tubman. Camryn, Annabelle and Madison placed third for their website on how the Roaring ’20s impacted the lives of women.
