Thanks to community chorus for opera DVDs

The Jamestown Philomenian Library would like to thank the community chorus for its generous donation this month. The chorus has given the library a gift of nine operas on DVD.

This is a wonderful gift and contribution to the library’s collection. I know the patrons and community of Jamestown will be delighted and will visit the performances via the library with family and friends. Thank you for your continued support of the library and Jamestown community.

The selections include Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” from the Metropolitan Opera in 2006; Puccini’s “La Boheme” from the Metropolitan Opera in 1977; the 1983 Metropolitan Opera Centennial Gala; Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” from the Metropolitan Opera in 1985; Verdi’s “La Traviata” with Renee Fleming from the Los Angeles Opera in 2006; Donizetti’s 2005 opera of “L’elisir d’amour”; Wagner’s “Die Walkure” from the Metropolitan Opera in 2011; Bizet’s “Carmen” from the Metropolitan Opera in 2010; and the final performance of “Rent” on Broadway in 2008.
