Final piano recital at St. Matthew’s Sunday
Dr. Manabu Takasawa, internationally known pianist and music scholar, returns to the island on Sunday, May 12, for the final concert of the Jamestown Community Piano Association’s 2012-13 season. The recital begins at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Takasawa’s program will include Beethoven’s seven variations of “God Save the King,” and will feature works from two lesser- known composers, Louis Moreau Gottschalk and William Albright. He will also play compositions from Claude Debussy, Leopold Godowsky and Chopin. The concert is free and open to the public.
