POLICE LOG

From April 30 to May 6, the Jamestown Police Department re­sponded to 440 calls for service. Officers performed 246 security checks of vacant homes and build­ings. Police also responded to 14 emergency calls, 10 animal com­plaints, eight parking complaints and 14 alarms. There were 44 traf­fic stops, resulting in four arrests and four traffic citations.

License

Debra J. Obryan, 49, of In­dian Hill Road, Middletown, was charged May 3 for driving with an expired license. According to po­lice, Obryan was stopped on Route 138 eastbound near the Conanicus Avenue exit. She was issued a cita­tion and released. A court date was scheduled for May 31 at 2nd Divi­sion District Court in Newport.

DUI

• Edward D. Coughlan, 41, of North Road, Jamestown, was charged May 3 with DUI and re­fusal to submit to a chemical test. According to police, Coughlan was stopped on North Road. It is his second DUI arrest. Coughlan was transported to the police sta­tion where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace. A court date was scheduled for May 10 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Britney J. Lebelle, 21, of Nar­ragansett Avenue, Jamestown, was charged May 6 with DUI. Accord­ing to police, Lebelle was stopped at the RITBA bus stop at East Ferry. She was transported to the police station where she was pro­cessed before being taken to 2nd Division District Court in New­port. A court date was scheduled for May 24.

Warrant

Melody L. Smith, 19, of Co­nanicus Avenue, Jamestown, was charged May 4 for a bench warrant issued from 6th Division District Court in Providence. According to police, Smith was arrested follow­ing an investigation at her home. She was transported to the police station where she was processed before being taken to the ACI in Cranston.
