Season at community farm begins Saturday

The Jamestown Community Farm will begin its 13th season on Saturday, May 18, at 9 a.m. For the last 12 growing seasons, volunteers of all ages have helped plant, weed and harvest, resulting in more than 160,000 pounds of fresh vegetables for local soup kitchens and food pantries. Over the years the farm has provided community service for hundreds of school-age children. The 4-acre farm is located on the corner of Eldred Avenue and East Shore Road. Volunteer hours through September are Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning May 28. Any questions contact Bob or Lynda Sutton at 423-0910 or rsuttonde sign@cox.net.
