New regulations for 3 saltwater fisheries

The state has enacted new recreational regulations for three saltwater fish. The minimum size for scup has been reduced to 10 inches, and the bag limit has increased to 30 fish per person each day. The minimum size for summer flounder (or fluke) has been reduced to 18 inches and the daily bag limit is eight fish per person per day. The season for black sea bass opens June 15. The minimum size is 13 inches. The daily bag limit will drop to three fish per person per day from June 15 to Aug. 31, and increase to seven fish per person per day from Sept. 1 to Dec. 31.

The Department of Environmental Management made the changes based on recommendations for the state’s marine fisheries council.
