POLICE LOG

From May 28 to June 3, the Jamestown Police Department re­sponded to 559 calls for service. Of those calls, officers performed 177 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings.

Police also responded to 17 emergency calls, five motor-ve­hicle accidents, 10 animal com­plaints, three parking complaints and four alarms. There were 210 traffic stops, resulting in six arrests and 25 traffic citations. Twenty of the tickets were issued by officers assigned to a state enforcement program.

License

• Carlos Ventura, 28, of May Street, North Providence, was charged May 28 for driving with­out a license.

• Francesca Spidalieri, 28, of Poplar Street, Newport, was charged May 30 with driving with an expired license. According to police, the defendant was pulled over on Conanicus Avenue. Spi­dalieri was issued a citation at the scene. A court date was scheduled for June 21 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• Julio R. Ortiz, 29, of Bay View Avenue, Newport, was charged May 31 with driving without a li­cense. According to police, the de­fendant was pulled over on Route 138 westbound. Ortiz was trans­ported to the police station where he was processed and arraigned before a judge. A court date was scheduled for June 21 at 2nd Divi­sion District Court in Newport.

• Ashley L. Richmond, 23, of Shannock Village Road, Rich­mond, was charged June 1 with driving with an expired license. According to police, the defen­dant was pulled over on Route 138 westbound. Richmond was issued a citation at the scene. A court date was scheduled for June 21 at 2nd Division District Court in New­port.

• Leanna Givens, 25, of Wheeler Avenue, Cranston, was charged June 1 for driving with an expired license. According to police, the defendant was pulled over on Bea­vertail Road. Givens was issued a citation and released. A court date was scheduled for July 5 at 2nd Di­vision District Court in Newport.

• Heber Aguilar Acevedo, 33, of Carrol Avenue, Newport, was charged June 2 with driving with­out a license. According to police, the defendant was pulled over on Route 138 eastbound near the toll plaza. Aguilar Acevedo was trans­ported to the police station where he was processed and released. A court date was scheduled for June 21 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

Incident report

• On May 21, a bottle of wine was stolen from Jamestown Fish. An investigation by police led to an arrest.

• On May 23, a dog died after being struck by a car on Beacon Avenue.

• On May 25, a bike was stolen from Clinton Avenue. Police say there are no suspects.

• On May 27, police responded to a domestic disturbance in prog­ress on Top O The Mark Drive. The verbal dispute was between roommates and a no-trespass order was issued.

• On May 28, an iPad was stolen from a convertible that was parked with the top down at Cumberland Farms. Police say there are no sus­pects.

• On May 28, police responded to a dispute on West Wind Drive between a landlord and tenant over damaged property. Police say it is a civil matter.

• On May 30, police responded to a trespassing complaint from an East Shore Road resident. Police say it is an ongoing property-line dispute.

• On May 31, police were dis­patched to Mount Hope Avenue after a report of a motor-vehicle theft. Officers found the vehicle. The owner said he had forgot where he parked.

• On June 2, a kayak valued at $1,300 was stolen from a front yard on East Shore Road. Police say there are no suspects.
