Island couple has yard featured in Country Garden
A six-page feature spread on artists David and Jennifer Clancy appeared in the summer 2013 issue of Country Garden magazine, a sister publication of Better Homes and Gardens. The Clancys’ workshop and home is just north of the windmill.
The story, according to writer Penelope O’Sullivan, is about “glassblowers whose colorful organic sculptures reflect the richness of the natural environment.” The article is titled “The Wild Side,” and features 10 photos of the couple’s yard. The piece was produced by Lynda Sutton, who along with her husband manages the Jamestown Community Farm. Sutton is a contributing field editor for the magazine, covering the Newport area.
The magazine can be purchased at Baker’s Pharmacy.
The display date for the summer issue expired Aug. 6.
“With glass and gardens, you’re just trying to master a natural medium,” Jennifer Clancy told Country Gardens magazine. “At a certain point you just have to let go, at least if you’re going to enjoy it.”
The Clancys’ yard is a 2-acre property with views of the windmill and Newport Pell Bridge.
