Town clerk inducted into Phi Theta Kappa

Assistant Town Clerk Heather Lopes was inducted into the Pi Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at the Community College of Rhode Island on March 22. The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, Miss., is the largest honor society in American higher education with 1,280 chapters on college campuses in all 50 states. Lopes is majoring in accounting.

Islanders named to dean’s lists for spring semester

• Six Jamestown residents were named to the spring dean’s list at the Community College of Rhode Island. They are James Dussault, Laurel Falces, Laura Ferrick, Ryan Healey, Kyle Lanphere and Rachael Slattery. Students at CCRI need at GPA of 3.25 or greater to be eligible for the dean’s list.

• Eric Holtzman was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Northeastern University in Massachusetts. Holtzman is majoring in applied physics. Students at Northeastern need a GPA of 3.5 or greater to be eligible for the dean’s list.

Two island residents graduate from Trinity

• Jamestowners Cheryl Barber and Jeffrey Sybertz graduated May 19 from Trinity College in Connecticut. Barber graduated with a bachelor’s degree in neurochemistry, and Sybertz graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in political science. He minored in Hispanic studies.
