Thanks for making Payton’s Pace a hit
We would like to thank everyone who helped make the second annual Payton’s Pace 5k successful. We would like to express all our gratitude to our wonderful sponsors, donors, volunteers and participants.
The event would not have been possible without the generosity of the Jamestown, North Kingstown, Narragansett and Newport communities for their continued support. We had more than 330 runners and walkers for the 5k, and more than 70 children for the kids run.
More than $12,000 was raised for the Payton Elizabeth Watson Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit corporation. Our goal is to bring more awareness to childhood cancer while keeping Payton’s memory alive and giving back to the community. Beneficiaries include the Payton Elizabeth Watson Scholarship Fund, with the first scholarship being given to a 2014 NKHS graduate the year Payton would have graduated high school, Jamestown baseball, Jamestown soccer, Jamestown PTO, the Jamestown Recreation Department, NKHS theater, North Kingstown’s youth drama program, Ocean State Soccer, the Tomorrow Fund, the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Payton beads at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Wickford Middle School PTO, and the Payton Elizabeth Watson Learning Center.
We try to continue to pay it forward in Payton’s memory and to make her proud.
