Transparency needed concerning cameras

Superintendent Marcia Lukon refuses to divulge any details about the number, location or price of the schools’ surveillance cameras, citing “security reasons.”

The message to students is clear: We, the authorities, are watching you. You, the citizen, have no right to demand any transparency from us about how we wield that power. If you do, you are a threat.

Sadly, out of all the lessons they’re learning, this is probably the one with the most real-life applications.
