James Francis Rocha
Rocha, a very good soul, died May 28, 2013, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Dale (Pritchard) Rocha. Born in Fall River, Mass., in August 1952, he was a son of the late Manuel and Evelyn (Carvahlo) Rocha and brother of the late Peter Rocha.
Jim was a talented musician and songwriter. He surfed competitively, was a professional photographer, gifted horseman, and Civil War historian and re-enactor. Jim lived his life authentically. He was fun and funny, and he found some happiness in every day no matter what the circumstance. He was delighted most in this life by his children and grandchildren. His family will miss his sparkle and wit.
Besides his wife, a lucky girl, he leaves behind three wonderful children, Nicole Evelyn Ford of Silverhill, Ala., James Jordan Rocha of Los Angeles, and Evan Pritchard Rocha of Jamestown; four siblings, Ann Marie Rocha of West Warwick, William Rocha of Lancaster, Calif., Joel Rocha of Saunderstown, and Paul Rocha of Coventry; and four beautiful grandchildren, Austin James, Dana Gabrielle, Anna-Claire Marie and Adeline Layla.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown.
