Community theater picked great musical

Jamestowners are in for a real treat. The Jamestown Community Theatre is producing the musical “Dear Edwina,” which has received great reviews. The New York Times reviewed the off Broadway production of the musical in November of 2008. It wrote, “’Dear Edwina is a children’s musical that adults will find winning and charming as well. The show is funny and fast moving with cleaver lyrics and cheerful catchy melodies.’”

Time Out called it a “rare gem.” The great reviews should come as no surprise. The lyrics were written by Marcy Heisler and the music by Zina Goldrich. These two talented women recently collaborated on the score of the “The Great American Mousical” directed by Julie Andrews, which debuted in November 2012 at Goodspeed Opera House’s Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn.

I can’t wait to see November’s JCT production of “Dear Edwina” per- formed by the adults and children of Jamestown.
