East Ferry fireworks once again successful
The Rocket ’hogs – Bob Bailey, Kerry Sheehan and I – are extremely thankful to the many people who contributed to the success of the 2013 Independence Day fireworks display. We are most thankful for the individuals and their families who purchased a Tshirt, made a donation through our mailbox, or dropped their loose change at McQuade’s and Jamestown Wine & Spirits.
The Rocket ’hogs fireworks display also benefits tremendously from the financial support of many island businesses. Please consider supporting them as a show of gratitude for their support. You can find a list of all corporate and private donors on our website: Rocketh ogs.com.
What makes our event successful, though, isn’t the money we put into it. The reason our fireworks are the best in the state is because of the manpower and organization behind the show. We couldn’t host this event without incredible support from our Town Council, the office staff at Town Hall, and Bill Piva and Jill Goldstein of the Recreation Department.
Significant manpower on the day of the event is contributed by the men and women of the Police Department, the Fire Department (particularly the crew of Marine 1), and especially Harbormaster Sam Paterson.
My favorite part of the fireworks was the lead into the display from the Jamestown Community Band, under the direction of Bethany Clarke. Thanks for another great show.
